How does RFQ (Request for Quotation) work?
Understand the full RFQ flow from buyer submission to seller response.
What is RFQ?
RFQ (Request for Quotation) is how buyers on Indiana Marketplace contact sellers to get pricing, MOQ, and delivery details for a product or service. When a buyer submits an RFQ, it becomes a 'lead' in your dashboard.
How buyers send RFQs
A buyer visits your listing page and clicks 'Get Best Price' or 'Send Enquiry'. They fill in their requirement details — quantity, delivery location, specific requirements — and submit. You receive this instantly in your dashboard and via email.
How sellers receive RFQs
Every RFQ shows up under Seller Dashboard → Leads → Inbox. Each lead shows:
- Buyer name and company (verified buyers show a badge)
- Product/service enquired about
- Quantity and unit
- Message from buyer
- Date and time received
Responding to an RFQ
Click on any lead to open the conversation. Enter your price, lead time, and any terms. Click 'Send Quote'. The buyer receives your response via email and in-app notification. You can also chat directly within the lead thread.
Lead lifecycle
A lead can be in one of these states:
- New — freshly received, not yet viewed
- Viewed — you've opened the lead
- Responded — you've sent a quote
- Won — buyer confirmed order
- Lost / Closed — no further action
Do I pay per lead?
Free plan sellers receive up to 10 leads per month. Premium plans offer unlimited leads with higher visibility. You never pay per individual lead — leads are included in your plan.
